Question gurgling sink

Hi all...1 small question concerning a double kitchen sink that has a gurgling sound when the water is all out of the sink, it drains ok and then it starts to gurgle for about 2-3 minutes or until you run more water, I've taken the traps out and there clean, could it be a vent problem I dont have a clue. -Ron

Could very well be a venting problem. A very common issue on old homes. You could possibly install a studor vent directly under your sink to alleviate this problem. Only in the situation that you do not want to open the wall and install the vent line correctly.

This costs more money and usually is not an option for most.

Materials would be under ten dollars and a tee is installed immediately after the trap arm turned up with a short piece of pipe with a female adaptor to allow for easy removal of studor vent.

Not exactly the proper way..........but it will allow the drain to take air from the atmosphere when needed when the process of water drains through piping causing a suction, and seal back off when the demand of air is complete without letting sewer gases escape.

Oh, let's not get into Studor valves.

Apparently they are OK on the east coast. On the west coast, a plumber could lose his license for installing one. Iowa is pretty much dead center -- best check with your local bldg. dept. about it.
