Replace bathtub
I would like to replace an old cast iron bathtub. It is 41/2 ft long. I want to replace it with a 5ft. tub which would bring the rear of the tub flush with the rear of the bathroom wall. At the same time I will remodel the entire bathroom. The tub has been in place for over 50 years. What would be the best approach to remove it? From the top or from the ceiling below. The ceiling below has electrical wiring running through it. Additionally if I decided to replace the bathtub with a whirlpool tub would I need tremendous pressure or other accessories? Thank you for your reply.

The best way I have seen to remove a cast iron tub is to use an old blanket and a sledgehammer and break it up into pieces. This avoids the risk of removing the tub as one piece which is extremely heavy and requires more than one person.
You working water pressure is all that is required to to a whirlpool tub. Most require at least 55 psi as working pressure.
Those tubs work independently once the water is 2 inches above the jets.
