Insinkerator is replacing my model 444 garbage disposal for free under warranty. Kudos to their good customer service.

I noticed in reading all the literature that came with my disposal that I can hook up my dishwasher to a (knock-out) connection on the disposal. Is there any benefit to doing this? Will it prolong the life of my disposal, or possibly shorten it? Would the soap/food from the dishwasher possibly clean it out, or maybe make it corrode more quickly?

Right now it is connected to the other side on a dual drain sink.
If it were me, I would leave well enough alone. Either method is acceptable. The GD connection is provided as a convince, not a necessity & can't see any advantage to reconnecting it there.

BTW, I installed an Insinkerator to replace my last disposal and love the way it works. IMHO, they are MUCH better than the competition. Never had a single jam (and I really stuff it full.)
