Stripped Valve

I am installing a RO Water Filter, and while turnin on and off my cold water shutoff valve (to check for and attempt to fix leaks), it seems I've stripped the knob. Luckily it's stuck in the closed position.

Any advice on how to either fix it or replace it?

Thanks much.

Cool

Replace it. They're inexpensive.
Sitting up for long periods of time in the open mode causes them to get corroded, etc.
Good luck!

I live in an apartment and don;t have access to the main water supply. If I take out the valve, won't I get a flood?

You probably will get flooded if you can't shut something upstream of your valve.

Maybe your apartment maintenance people can help you find a way to shut down long enough to replace your valve.

Cool

If you live in an apartment, the shut-off valve is their problem.
Call your apartment manager or the maintenance department.
If it is just the handle that is stripped, you can probably turn it back on with pliers temporarily.
Good Luck!
