Recently bought a house (month ago). This weekend I tightened the bolt around the toilet handle, the pipes now make "fog horn" sounds. Help!

Im thinking you mean the nut that holds the
toilet flush handle on, is the one you tightened?
If that is correct, then its purely coinsidence that your pipes now bellow like
a fog horn.
could you please elaborate a little more
on this topic, you do mean the waterpiping?

Sounds like maybe you're getting air in the lines from a leak somewhere. Are u on public water or private well w/pump? Being in the house for a month, surely all of the water lines/appliances/heater have been thoroughly flushed with water to get all air out.
