No water from shower

water will not flow from my shower. i have removed the shower head yet i can see no signs of a clogged pipe. what might the problem be? any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to repair/replace your diverter valve.

You said you checked the pipes, did you turn the water on without the shower head on? If you did that, then the OldGuy is probably right on the money! If you didnt, try that. If it works that way, your shower head is clogged.

Thanks for the insight! One question though. Is replacing a diverter valve something that I can do or does it require a plumber? It seems as though this must be located in the wall. Does this mean that I'll have to tear into the wall?

Should be able to remove handle, and if you have or can get a valve socket (similar to a sparkplug socket)to fit your particular diverter valve, you should be able to pull it yourself. You can then rebuild it with new o-rings, washers and parts for that make/model, or replace it. Or call a plumber, who will have a socket that fits. Good Luck!
