My husband & I recently purchased a home in the country that is approx 40yrs old and has been very well maintained. Our problem is the fact that the house has been vacant for approx 8 months and the bathtubs & sinks now have rust stains that can be eliminated temporarily, but keep coming back. Is there any type of water treatment that can eliminate or at least help with the rust problem? Please advise...Thanks!!

Cool

The rust is most very likely coming from exactly where you think it is coming from - old galvanized pipes. However, rust-colored water could be from a well, if you're on one. If not, this problem will persist until you replace your pipes with copper or cpvc supply lines. Sorry about that news. Good Luck!
