Clogged garbage disposal

There is a layer of food that has hardened on the blade of my garbage disposal and the blade is stuck now. I have tried chipping off this layer, but it is too hard to chip off. Is there a product or a recipe that I can use that will "eat away" at this food buildup or weaken it so I can chip it off?

Anything that would eat through the dried on food would also mess up the seals of the disposer. I would spend the money for a new disposer. A new one can be found for around $65 and installation is easy enough.

Plumbing "burps"

In our two story home when we flush the upstairs toilet, the downstairs toilet 'burps' and bubbles. Also, the bathroom and kitchen sinks gurgle. Added data: when we had a pitched roof built over the previous flat roof a number of years ago, the contractor apparantly "forgot" to connect the vent pipe stack to the new roof. Can anyone help me w/a diy repair hint? Thanks.

food in the laundry tub?

I have replaced my old floor drain with a new pvc drain. I also put a new plug in my sewer pipe cleanout. Now when I flush my toilet on the main floor the kitchen sink which is also on the main floor gurgles. Also i am finding food particles in my basement laundry tub which were originally washed down the drain from the kitchen sink upstairs. Any ideas? Thanks ------------------ Dustin and Jenn
