How to drain/vent new shower in basement bathroom
I am adding a shower to a raised ranch basement bathroom. The drain will be 8ft from the stack or 3 ft from the toilet. The toilet is 6 ft from the stack. Can I tie in at the toilet, so that the cutting of the floor would be much shorter? The house was built in the 60's, I do not see any separate vents anywhere accept for the stack going up to the roof. Do know I need to add one, if so where should it be ?
thanks,
Shawn

Are you sure that stack doesn't have fixtures draining above it?
You can a vent up off of the toilet at 15", the wall behind the toilet, and then run the vent up to 42" and across the wall to the stack you talk of if there is no fixtures above.
