Help with hot water heater banging pipes when we turn off the hot or cold faucets. What's a check valve >?

Sounds like water hammer. Install a couple of air chambers or water hammer arrestors.

Broken outdoor faucet

When I turn on the outdoor faucet water comes out of the siding as well as the faucet. It appears that the shutoff valve is broken somehow, being that it does not leak when the faucet is off. What is the best approach to fix this? I do have access through the basement to some of the pipe. Help

We are remodeling our kitchen and are moving the location of the sink. We are not sure how to install the vent pipe for an island sink. Is there anyone out there who could supply us with this information? Thank you, dicksynme
