Question

Due to a past rodent problem, I need to get under my bathtub. It is a standard ceramic bathtub with only a bottom twist drain. All edges are caulked around tile. What am I getting myself into in trying to remove, then replace this tub?

Eternally unhandy,

Removing a tub is a back breaking task if it's cast iron, a few steps need taken to perform this.

Remove surround, if tiled this will be a long process.

Remove sheetrock, needed if you have to lift and twist the tub out of it's resting slot.

It is possible to slide to tub out of the slot if the sheetrock is removed from the top edge of tub to the outside edge of wall and down, exposing the studs in the wall.

This is a hard task and takes time

I recommended getting help in this task. A piece of mind is better then a hurting back.
