After I flush the toilet and the tank fills, just before it finishes its filling, a whine comes from the tank. I tried closing the shut off a little below the toilet tank but that didn't work. What to do?

Hi:glitterman1

Most likely it's the fill valve inside the tank making that noise.

As the tank fills, the float raises and begins to cut off the water flow. Sediment collected under that valve seat may have collected there causing the noise.

Close off the water line under the tank and attempt to clean the fill valve seat. All else fails, replace that whole unit and it should then end that noise.

Good Luck

Just replace it with a fluidmaster, replace the supply line at the same time.
