I have an old boiler with radiators in my home. I want to remove the radiators in order to have them sandblasted and repainted. What do I need to do in order to prevent water from spraying in my home when I attempt to remove them? I shut off the boiler and water. Do I need to drain the entire tank? Also, this is an old system. Any hints as to how to loosen the old pipes? Thanks for the suggestions.

I wish I could help you on the boiler problem but where I live it takes a special license to even touch one.

Hints to loosen old pipe, some will unscrew were you want them to and some will need to pipe wrenches, one to hold the pipe steady and one the unscrew.
