SERIOUS Problem!!!!

We bought a fixer-upper that has some serious plumbing problems. I replaced the septic pipe that goes from the house to the septic tank. The septic tank was recently pumped. There are no vents in the house. When the washer is running, the toilet "bubbles" and water backs up and comes out in the tub and all the sinks. The stink is unbearable! The water that backs up is full of grime and chunks of black stuff. Any idea how to fix this problem and also, what the heck is the black stuff and where is it coming from? Thanks for any help out there!

There are no vents in the house?? You will need to put vents in for the drainage system of the house to work properly. If you have any questions about how to go about doing that, post your questions and we will walk you through it.

Thanks for the response! I'll be installing vents this weekend. So basically all the problems I'm having is because there are no vents? What is the chunks of black stuff from? I'll let you know if I need any help. again, thanks

When I opened the crawl to replumb the house, I found standing water under the house. I know for a fact that there are NO LEAKY pipes, I already checked for that. However, I think this may be from irrigating my yard, but I wanted to confirm my suspicions. Could the water be from irrigating (whoever plumbed this house did it wrong, the pipes are not angled right and in fact goes UPHILL) Or could the water be under the house because of the uphill plumbing? One more thing, keep in mind, I irrigated THREE days ago and the weather here hasn't been very hot (thinking of the water drying up with heat) What is your opinion of this? thanks...

Keep in mind I am not a plumber, just another owner of a very old (100 Yr)house with a septic system--Do I understand you to say that the pipe leading away from your septic tank goes uphill? We had the bubbling back up problem when the pipe to our tank was filled with roots and needed to be replaced. After the new pipe was installed, I also had very slow drainage when our lot was saturated with water from record rainfalls. It sounds to me like your tank is unable to drain at all because of too high a water level in your yard.
