hot tub repair
#1

we have a typical 6 seater outdoor hot tub that you purchase at a pool/spa store that has a hairline crack on the outside under the tub. I believe its acrylic or fiberglass and my husband wants to repair it with a resin kit thats used to repair surfboards. Any suggestions?

Hi:seastones2
Your husband has the right idea but this solution to fix the crack may not work.
Your question poses other questions?
Is the crack leaking water?
<If so, filling the crack may stop the water leakage temporarily but not fix the real problem that caused the crack.>
What caused the crack?
<My guess would be a lack of proper support under that area of the spa.>
How large is this crack?
<Filling the visible crack will not correct the invisible hairline crack sure to be there extending further along in a straight line in either or both directions.>
However, two suggestions come to mind.
#1
If the crack is already leaking, try the resin fix. You have nothing to lose.

Visit the retailer and ask for professional advice. There you may find alternate solutions and products designed to correct this type of problem.
