I have white crystals in the hot water supply. This affects all hot water faucets and plugs the screens every couple days. The crystals have appeared after the hot water heater(gas) was replaced. I have flushed the heater tank and replaced the water softner.
This problem is rapidly driving me nuts!

Take the crystals and put them into vinger, this will tell you if it's hard water or possible comming from the tip dube, whice I doubt due to you saying is a new water heater.

The crystals do not dissolve in vinegar, they turn to a powder when allowed to dry

Well I don't know what could be the problem, I'd have a plumber come out and maybe he can find the source.

Cool

I'm not a plumber, but I would try one last thing before calling one. Flush the lines, too. Turn off water heater, remove all aerators, thoroughly flush hot water lines with cold water supply through heater just to see if that gets rid of the white stuff. If it doesn't, then call. If it doesn't dissolve in vinegar, kinda makes me think that it is some type of residue from the old water heater dip tube or something. Good Luck!
