hot water heater's making a knocking noise

when i touched the hot water pipe going from the tank to the wall, i could feel the tapping or knocking that seems to match the sound. i want to release pressure from the pressure valve?? not sure. what should i be doing - aside from calling a plumber at this hour of the night?

Just open a hot water valve someplace in the house and that should end the knocking. The cause is thermal expansion. How high is the temp. set on the water heater?

Toilet tank will not fill up

I need help desperately!! My toilet tank will not fill up, therefore when I push the lever, nothing happens. Do I need to replace the flap & chain thingie. I think that is why it is not filling up. I am a total novice at this so please give instructions if I do. Thanks a million! At wits end in Maryland

Underground piping to shed.

I connected a outdoor faucet near the shed in back yard, to 3/4" black black pipe, sold in 50' coils for lawn sprinkers and such. Now I am wondering if the plastic connectors and clamps will contain the water pressure without leaking. It occurred that it may not be suited for water pressure because there is no high pressure in sprinker systems. Am I headed for disappointment? I already buried the pipe. Or will these connectors hold tight? Mark
