I'm trying to replace the shut off valve. Valve is attached to copper pipe. When I tried to unscrew the valve, it just turns around & around, doesn't come off. Is it soldered to the copper? Is there some other way for me to replace it or should I call a plumber?

Make sure the water is off and while using 2 channel locks, hold the stop and unscrew the nut on the back side of the stop, this should allow you to remove it.
