Question

The showerhead in my spare bath protrudes from the wall approximately 4 feet from the bottom of the tub. I would like to extend the shower line so the showerhead is a little over 6ft from the bottom of the tub. Should I install a new shower line from the hot and cold water connector or can I just fit about a 2ft extention from the top of the shower line? I'm going to replace the shower faucet and nozzle at the same time. Also if I connect an extention to the top of the showerline will this pipe need to be anchored to the wall stud also? Thank you.

You can raise the shower head inside the wall to the height you want it to, only thing is you will have to fill in the old stub out hole. Yes anchor the pipe in the wall for the shower arm.
