washing machine hookup + utility sink

I have a utility sink in which the washing machine empties into from a hose on top. I am trying to install a cabinet with a sink inside and I need information on how to make it so the washing machine empties directly into the drain line and not in the sink but also use the sink normally.

You need to check with your Building Inspection Department to see what is allowed by local code.
A washing machine pump discharges a great deal of water, and usually should be drained into a 1.5"-2" drain pipe.
A sink drain assembly is 1.25" draining into 1.5".
You might be able to discharge the washer directly into a street T to the drain pipe after the sink drain assembly.
Good luck!
Mike
