My bathtub looks like it's peeling away its top layer, (looks like paint peeling away from tub) I'm not sure if the tub was ever painted, It doesn't look like it. I was wondering if their was a way of repairing my tub before I recaulk it. Dean

In my new house, because the basement bathroom is below the sewer line, the waste water is piped to a grinder which pumps the waste water up and out to the sewer line. Also on this line is the floor drain from by shop area which is located about 15' beyond the downstairs bathroom. The basement toilet line too frequently becomes stopped up and subsequent flushing of the toilet causes the sewage to back up through the floor drain into my shop. Is it possible that the toilet flush at 1.6 gpf is inadequate to carry the waste to the grinder? If that is the case, will a 5 gpf toilet remedy the problem? Is it possible to convert a 1.6 gpf to a larger capacity flush? I am assuming the drain waste lines were properly laid with the correct slope. Any ideas?
