I'm buying a 6 year old house, elec water heater in attic, if heater starts to leak, is there normally a drain to take the water away to prevent damage to the house or contents?

Is there a pan under it? and does it have an outlet on the pan? if there is a pan, is there a pipe off of the pan going to the outside?
If none of these are true, then you might want to think about getting this taken care of before something goes wrong.
