Toilet not emptying

I live in a condo with 2 bathrooms. One toilet will not flush out. The water comes in, but will not go down right away. Within a few minutes it has gone down, but paper, etc. is still in it. Is this a building problem or just my own individual problem? Everything else seems to drain OK. HELP.

Hi teddeybears:

Time to get out the plunger and plunge the toilet. There is a partial blockage in the line, probably right in the base of the toilet. A couple of good shots with the plunger should clear it right up!

A good plunger MAY cure the problem, but if it doesn't use a closet auger. Sounds as though something is blocking the S-trap in the toilet. Assuming that all of your other drains are flowing just fine, this is a clog of only your toilet. I really doubt that it is a bldg. problem.

Vent lines

I am puttin in a basement bath and was going to tie into the existing vent line. I was told that was against code and must run a new vent line to the attic and then tie into the stack. Why is that code?? I dont see how if the vent somehow flooded why it just wouldnt go into the drain line anyway. Thanks

I have a toilet that drains thru the rear instead of thru the floor. Can't seem to locate a name brand on the tank or stool. I have a septic system that was pumped 1 year ago. The water seems to flow around the stool prior flushing as normal, but we must flush 2 or 3 times before all waste is gone.Could this be a wax ring problem,a vent problem or possibly a septic tank problem? Thanks for any help...
