Exclamation

My husband is re-plumbing the shower/tub, everytime he turns on the water the "clamps" on the rubber pipe attached to the hot AND the cold water are leaking like crazy! He keeps tightening them to no avail. There must be something we are missing. PLEASE HELP! The bathroom water has been off for 2 days now and WE ALL NEED SHOWERS!!!

I am going to take you at your word. You said rubber pipe. If that is true, that is your problem. You need either pvc or pex pipe. Make sure you also have the right connector from your metal shower to your pvc pipe.

It would be helpful for you to say what was done in the replumbing. Like a faucett replacment and then say what faucett was used.

Don't use pvc pipe for the water lines if your using plastic, the pex or cpvc would be better. pvc is not designed for interior water supply or hot water. Also Use a brass threaded connector designed for the type of pipe you select, use teflon tape on your threads.
good luck

Jenny,

We need more detail,

What was the existing pipe your working with? What type of pipe are you trying to use?

If the pipe your trying to use is black, do not use it.
