low pressure in kitchen sink
#1

I have a Moen sprayer/faucet. Have replaced cartridge, cleaned aerators and still no pressure.I've also noticed that one side of the sink ( dual basin)drains slower than the other . Are these two problems related? Is it time to call a pro?

John,
You answered the following on a recent question that dupliates my problem. I don't believe it's a Moen faucet, but it's the same problem: MUCH lower pressure at this faucet than in any other area (all other areas normal) and even lower pressure on the hot water side than the cold. I checked the passages in the body of the valve (they were clear) and did notice a slight crimp in the copper (going to the hot water supply side), but that error should have always caused the same problem from my original installation a couple of years ago, right? Or is it possible that over time sediment collected there and has decreased the flow?
Thanks,
Barry

Is the pressure low for both cold and hot?
Is the pressure low with the aerator removed?
Is the pressure okay at all the other faucets in your house?
Not quite yet time to call a pro.<HR>

The pressure is low in both hot and cold lines. Water pressure is fine everywhere else.
Yes, it's low even with the cleaned aerator removed.
Any thoughts?Suggestions?
(The pressure is okay for the dishwasher, since I think they are connected somehow)

oboy: Your symptoms suggest the problem is in the faucet itself. Dismantle it, replace it, or ??? (I ran out of ideas).
Barry: I ran out of ideas even earlier on your problem.
I'll have to bow out now, and hope somebody else can help you. Good luck.

Hi Oboy, According to your post you have a Moen Kitchen faucet with a spray. I've got a break down of a Moem Faucet series 7636,7637 and7638. It shows a diverter in the system this is used when you use the sprayer, the water to the spout stops. The diverter may be jambed or plugged The drawing shows it has 2 O Rings and is mounted in the base of the spout. You may want to check it out.

Alot of good advice has been given, if the above methods still dont solve the problem, I have found similar situations where the problem is plugged fixture supply valves. Before scraping the faucet shut the valves off under the sink and disconnect the supply lines from the faucet and direct it into a bucket and turn the valves back on. If the pressure is good the problem is in the faucet. If not, shut the water off to the house, disassemble and clean the fixture supply valves. We have a lot of hard water problems in our area and its not uncommon to find both valves plugged. Als it seems that flare or compression fittings(especially reducing ones) are a good place for mineral to build up, check these also.
Good luck
