can you use a piercing valve on cpvc to hook up an icemaker or are those only used on copper

Hi to all. I have an old claw foot tub and it has a very small spout! Like half inch? And it seems like it was designed to push hose onto it since the spout actually is stepped down so as one might shove a tube on it the tube would naturally be forced to a tighter and tighter grip as you push tubing onto it. But so far, I have not seen anything that will go onto this spout, except the cheap "travel shower" type thing. I want to be able to use a good effecient shower massage type fixture. And further more, I would like to have a stand-up shower system that is hands free, rather than a rubber hose that I would hold. I see lots of old claw tubs in magazines with the shower set-up of actual stand-up plumbing and look forward to hearing from someone as to where I can find a resource to buy the needed materials to do this addition. Help!!! I really need to take a nice hot shower!!! Mckenna
