Can anyone tell me how to bleed a well-water tank and then how to restore it with the proper amount of pressure?

If its the old fashioned hollow tank without a bladder, shut the pump off and loosen the union to the tank or open a valve below the tank level. If you have a valve on the tank higher up, open this too to vent air to drain faster, drain the tank down as far as you can and reconnect. You dont air charge this system.

On a bladder type tank you shouldn't need to drain it down, if its waterlogged your tank is shot, replace it , it will come factory charged. If you need to recharge a functional bladder tank, shut the pump off relieve the pressure on the system and charge to 30psi

Thanks so much for your quick response and your wisdom. Since the tank does have a bladder, I guess it's time to call the plumber.
