Had to replace 30 feet of hot water line in the basement....galvanized. I decided to try cvpc pipe instead of copper this time. This stuff is great but I'm confused on one thing. Why do they say not to use a male fitting for hot water? As far as I can see, it is the only fitting that states that. I used it anyway and have found no problems so far

Cpvc is a decent product when installed properly, A weakness in the system is when it is joined with a threaded fitting, male or female. Leaks will have a tendancy to develop here because of expansion. Whenever I join cpvc to a threaded pipe I use a brass transition fitting. It will have brass threads on one side and a cpvc glue socket on the other, you can also get transition fittings designed to go into a half of a compression fitting. I have almost zero problems doing it this way.
