I was in the shower this morning and the water started to get cold after about 5 or 6 minutes and the water pressure dropped off to a dribble. The house is new to me and it is my first one. The house was built in 1973. I have never liked the shower head in the shower and it seems to have alot of deposites on it. Could it just need to be cleaned or replaced. This is the only faucet in the house that does it. After I got out of the shower I checked the other faucets and toilets. The toliets flushed and the sinks all had hot water and plenty of water pressure? Any clue? I also have a new washing machine and the drain there will drain, but does backs up when spinning and during the rinse. I Think it is due to the amount of flow with the washer and the size of the old drain. I don't think that the two are related, but I am no plumber? Any help would be apperciated.
Hi,
We are experiencing a sewer smell throughout our 1970's split level house with a septic system. The smell usually appears in the evening as the temp drops and when we have a fire in our lowest level fireplace.
The smell is coming from our upstairs bathroom and the laundry room/utility room directly underneath.
What we can't understand is why the smell gets worse when we have a fire in our lower level fireplace. It is on the same level as the laundry room/utility room and one level below our bathroom where we smell the smell the strongest.
We have looked in the vent on the roof, but can't really tell if it is plugged. Would a plumber be necessary, or are there a series of things we could check or do ourselves first?
Thanks!
