I have been battling with a leaky tub faucet for a while now. There is no brand name on it. The problem is with the cold tap, and I have taken it apart and tightened everything, put the handle back on at a better angle for leverage (to get it shut tight) and that usually helps for a couple days. Now it helps for about a couple hours. I have looked at the parts and I don't know a "stem" from my elbow. The drip is almost a stream and I am worried for my water bill. The parts look like they are copper, there are two handles (H &C) and one spout. Is this enough info to get your help?? (When the whole thing started, we had a plumber come, it was better for a week, then drip drip, so we had another plumber come- said it's all a ok now- and ... still here we are with the same damn drip).

I have a single stainless steel sink in the kitchen and the unit within the sink and just underneath are metal. This metal has failed causing a flood under the sink. I tried a new washer, but the metal is breaking away. I know what parts to purchase and am fairly confident that all the couplings are present to attach the new part to the existing pvc pipes under the sink... How do I remove the existing part and do I need to purchase any "goo" to go under the flange within the sink itself?
