water softener blues

We have hard water. Very hard water. We also have a water softner...thing. It appears not to be working and we don't know why. I'll admit, I know very little about this. Apparently there is salt in this contraption but other than that, we don't know why is isn't functioning. Can anyone help with so little details? It's a Kenmore, but that's all I know right now.

Have your Water Softener serviced, the control panel may not be working. You need someone from a softener company explain to you how to set the controls and timer for the unit. They do work for hard water problems. The sooner you take care of this, the less problems you'll have with calcium/sediment clogs in the pipes leading into your house.
