Help with Air compresor piping

i got a air compressor for christmas and want to permaneltly pipe it into my garage what kind of piping should i use i talked to someone at menards and they showed me some orange tubing that came in 25 foot lenght and it was in a coil it was not really soft but it was coiled up and it used compresion rings to conect it together does anybody know what it is called i forgot to ask and if you know what i am talking about is there a cheaper way of connecting it without buying the 30 dollar tool thanks
