Question Washing Machine Drain

I'm tired of that big, ugly, black hose running from my washing machine into the stationary tub. Is there a way to run it directly into the same plumbing and drain from the tub?

You can, you will need to run a line that is 2" to the washer machine, then you will have to give it it's own vent.

You cannot connect it UNDER the sink. If you do, the WM will not hold water! The end of the drain hose MUST be higher than the water level in the tub. If you put in a standpipe behind the WM, it must be trapped and vented.

Hummm, that's not what I wanted to hear, but thanks! I'm intrigued by both of your comments that it would have to be vented seperately. How is that accomplished? Is that a do-it-yourself project?
