GERBER tub drain removal

I have a bath tub that is about 20 years old. The tub drain that is installed is made by the GERBER company. I want to put in a new pop-up tub drain. The problem is I can't remove the old one. I have been to 6 different plumbing stores but nobody seems to have a removal tool for this Gerber tub drain.

The drain diameter opening is 1 3/4". It has 2 small notches 180 degrees opposite each other on the rim. I looked underneath the bath tub to see if it might come off from the bottom, but it is one piece of plumbing on the bottom so it definetely comes off from the top. Does anybody know where I might be able to purchase a tool to remove this?

Thanks in advance.

Try using a tool called a dumb bell, ask for one at the plumbing store.

I'm not specifically familiar with that tub drain, but it should be screwed in clockwise.
Heat it with a hair dryer on high heat to soften the old plumber's putty, and use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to tap it around counter-clockwise using those notches. Should unscrew it.
Good Luck!
