banging pipes

I was wondering how you cure pipes that bang when you turn the water on and the pipes make noises when not being used. I put a air chamber on the main line coming into the house right before the water heater. It bangs more when I turn the hot water on across the house in the kitchen. The hot water heater is a forced air exhaust and is only six months old and it makes noises also when it's not even heating up. Thanks

You either have a loose washer in a valve that was recently turned on or off, or you have a high water pressure problem that needs to be dealt with.

Have your pressure checked with a gauge with all faucets off in the home........make sure you bleed off the water briefly to make sure that you do not gauge thermal expansion created by the water heater.
