Soldering copper very close to black iron gas line

I have to solder a 3/4 copper water line but it is very close to an active gas line composed of black iron pipe. This joint is within 1/2 inch of the blackpipe. Will the black iron pipe be fine if I solder that close to it?

I guess my question basically comes down to whether or not the black iron gas pipe is tolerant of <2500 degrees of nearby heat for a short duration?

Unless the gasline is leaking, you should have no problem with soldering next to it. Have to ask, what type torch are you using? 2500 degrees is a bit steep for solder. If in doubt, put a piece of sheet metal between the two lines. Good luck.
