Remove dishwasher from garbage disposal

My dishwasher was originally connected to my garbage disposal unit; I have removed my dishwasher and am left with a hole in my garbage disposal where the dishwasher waste pipe was connected. What can I use to block this hole?

Garbage disposals usually have a knock-out in a 'tailpipe' for a dishwasher drain that, once knocked out, is open for good. What I would do is use a short piece of hose and a PVC plug, with hose clamps. Hose clamp the hose on one end to the tailpiece that comes out of the disposal, and insert a proper sized barbed plug into the other end of the hose, and clamp it. It doesn't need to be more than an inch or two in length. But make sure you have them affixed with hose clamps.

Cut about a two inch long piece of the 7/8" hose which used to connect to the disposal. A 3/4 copper plug fits inside this exactly. Reattach hose to disposal. ( use clamps on both ends)
