Question Typical water pressure?

Can someone please tell me what the average 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2400 sq.ft., single family home's typical water pressure should be set at? I've heard various psi's mentioned. Also, how would one measure what their current water pressure is? Thanks for any insight.....

most people have 55-60 psi,but your ok all the way up to 80. after that it'recomended that a pressure reducer be installed.(it's code most everywhere'but i have 122#s and don't have any problums-and this is in a 43 yr old house with galvinized pipes no less? any way you can buy a gauge the goes on the end of a hose bibb and it will tell you what you have.they even have one with a duel needle that will hold the high point.usually the pressure go up during the night.if you have a muliti story house deduct 1/2 psi for every foot of height. 20 ft =10# loss ect
