Drain line for shower in basement
I am installing a bathroom in my basement.
The plumbing was roughed in before I moved in.
I am in the process of moving the drain for the shower from where they roughed it in to another spot about 2 feet away. I broke up the cement, extended the pvc drain line, and installed a p-trap. So now I have a trench approximately 6-8 inches deep with a drain line running through it.
I now need to put cement back in. I am assuming I don't want to encase the pvc in cement. Originally the cement floor was approximately 4" thick. Do I want to put down rock and then cement on top of that? Is it bad to put cement in contact with the PVC? Or do I just pour cement in and quit worrying?
Thanks.

Fill around the PVC with sand. There is always ground movement with the changing seasons and if the pipe is in contact with the concrete it will eventually break the pipe or grind a hole in it. If the drain is coming through the concrete going to the shower, get some Armaflex insulation (black foam insulation) and wrap the pipe to allow expansion and contraction. Concrete should not contact the PVC. Good luck.
