Hot Water leaks out of the bathtub faucet

I have a pretty good leak going when I turn on the hot water main in my apartment. I am assuming the washer has rotted out. It is an old building with the knobs for hot, cold, and shower/tub director.

If I unscrew the hot water knob, will I be able to get the washer out?

Will the washer be a standard size or should I take it to a plumbing shop?

Thanks!

I would wait until I removed the stem and then take it with me to get a replacement. Buying a box of assorted washers is a pain since you will not likely use them. Get two of the size you need. If the hot is gone then the cold won't be far behind. Good luck.
