Black plastic pipe
The water supply line from my well is a black plastic pipe 1 inch ID, approx 1.2 inch OD. I can't see any labeling on the pipe and I'm wondering what material it's likely to be. I need to work on the system and want to get compatible adhesive. It was probably installed in the 1960s. Hoping this is elementary to you plumbing wizards.

I'd probably start with polyethylene pipe for what you are descibing. This is formable for elbows with broad sweeps, not rigid piping like ABS which would be choice #2.

Thanks. Here's the rest of the story. I need to tie into the water supply line from the well to install a sediment filter. I'll need to add some pipe. Can I use PVC or is CPVC more appropriate for this?
