Unhappy Dishwasher not draining

Hello:
I have a 2 year old Kenmore DW in one of my rental units. The tenant called today and told me that the DW washes, but doesn't drain. Other than garbage around the bottom of the DW, is there anything else I should look for? Thanks in advance.

The airgap may be obstructed.

Another thought...

Also, the diswasher typically drains into the sink line in some way... Either it ties on directly to the disposal or piping under the sink cabinet, or it has its own trap under the floor that in turn ties into the sink line... If the kitchen sink line is getting sluggish, as they all do eventually, the dishwasher will show it first by not draining properly because it pumps the drainage water out so quickly... Run it for a cycle and watch how it drains... Check to see if you are getting any back up in the sink too or if you hear gurgling as it attempts to drain... And, of course, your first thing to look at is to make sure the tenant is rinsing dishes and not letting the dishwasher get clogged with food particles that should never be in there to begin with...
