Toilet & Shower on the same branch line

Because of necessity (nothing else is close in this remodel). I need to add a shower drain to the existing toilet drain. The shower drain would be the last on the branch about 6 feet from the toilet flange. I could have a separate vent for the shower drain. The book I am reading says this is possilbe, but I would appreciate feedback on this.

shower tied into toilet drain

This is a code issue, where I live this is done all the time, your connection has to be down stream of the toilet. 2in. mim. pipe to the shower this installation does not need a vent where I live, but I don't know what your local code says; if you have to have a vent put it before the intake of the shower. Lots of luck

Thanks for the reply. Don't you mean the shower must be upstream of the toilet. That is what my book says. The shower is the end of the line and upstream from the toilet.

I would be a lot happier with that arrangement.... Shower/p-trap/vent to main drain line followed by the toilet/vent.........to sewer.
