cleanout cap damaged

My husband accidentally ran the lawnmower over the cleanout cap outside. We have tried to replace it, but the part that you put the wrench on is completely missing. Any ideas how to remove the cap and replace it?

If it's plastic, you can drill two holes large enough and far enough apart to get the handles of a pair of pliers through. Insert the pliars and use leverage to twist out the plug.
