Leaking shower

My shower is leaking between the drain and the shower floor base. I replaced the rubber gasket and it still leaked, so I was going to use some plumbers puddy around the gasket. On the instructions for the plumbers puddy it says not to use on marble or plastic. Plastic??? Is that correct I can't use it. If that's the case how about silicone?

Thanks

A rubber piece on the underside?
If you have a gasket on top, a washer is needed to keep it from wrinkling as you tighten the drain.

I was going to use some plumbers putty around the gasket.
That doesn't fly. You don't use putty on a gasket.

Correct. Putty contains chemicals to try to prevent it from hardening.
But those same chemicals will soften plastic (and stain marble).
Are you sure your shower isn't fiberglass?

Sure, you can use silicone. Just make sure you are assembling it correctly.
Is this thing really lightweight material?

I've seen plastic walls and sinks, but not a plastic shower base.
