pipes in attic wall

Can we install pipe for shower hand held in wall backing to the attic over garage?

Plumber said no.

Contractor said yes. Wants to put in double wall to insulate.

Anyone out there have experience with this?

janinbvi, Welcome to the DIY Froums.
I have to assume that the Plumber has a valid reason for not installing the pipes. After all, he gets more money for doing so. May be a local code he is respecting. Best way to know is to ask the Plumber his reasoning. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.

The plumber does not want to be responsible for the pipes freezing. That is the reason for the double wall recommendation. What do you think?

If the temps where you are located go low enough that the Plumber is worried about freezing, that IS something to consider. I would get some sort of agreement between the Plumber and contractor to cover you in case it DOES freeze (maybe in at least the first year).
