schedule 40 pipe/tube

I am looking to buy some schedule 40 tubing for a project I'm working on and I will be using Kee-Lite brand fittings to connect them. I was just at Home Depot and Lowes and they neither place has any pipes or tubing labeled "schedule 40", other than PVC. I asked customer service at Lowes if they sell metal schedule 40 tubing and the guy looked at me like I was insane. "I've never even heard of metal tubing that comes in a schedule 40. I don't think they even make that.", he said.

Does anyone know where I can buy alumi num or steel schedule 40 tubing or pipes?

Schedule 40 steel pipe is simply standard pipe.

Do a Google search for ANSI Schedule 40 and you will get a chart showing the wall thickness for each size pipe.

Thanks, MDTAYLOR! So if I go back to Home Depot, the standard steel pipe they have in the plumbing section is schedule 40?! Any idea if they make it in aluminum?

Yes, there is an aluminum schedule 40 pipe. It's most likely extruded and quite costly.

In my experience the black pipe or galvanized pipe at home depot or lowes is schedule 40.
