Gas Pipe Question

Hi All. I laid some green pipe for my bbq island but forgot to tape the joints/elbows. I buried the pipe about 18 inches below ground and its pretty dry here in CA. How bad is this? Will the joints rust, cause a gas leak, kill the neigborhood and cause a nuke war? Please advise.

Not familiar with your codes but I have not seen it permitted to bury threaded joints for gas anywhere. Needs to be welded or use the plastic gas line. Good luck.

Regardless, rip it up. I can unconditionally guarantee you the joints will leak gas. The run must be made of continuous piping without joints from point A to point B, whether it be copper, plastic, or welded. If you make joints at the end connections, use yellow teflon tape made specifically for gas connections, not the white water approved teflon.
Kill the neighborhood? If enough gas leaches into the ground, and travels horizontally, and a spark occurs, you bet, and guess who the EPD visits first?
