PVC to replace copper waste line to Cast Iron

I'd like to replace an existing copper waste line that screws into a nearby Cast iron soil stack. If I buy a PVC male threaded fitting will that screw fit be threaded the same as teh old copper? Are they the same thread style? And lastly do I need anything specail to put on the threads other than the rect seal?

The threads are the same. You should have no problems with what you want to do. Just don't "crank" on the PVC. Pipe threads are tapered and PVC will break if you go too far. Good luck with your project.
