Sewer Cam question
Can sewer cameras operators tell what type of sewer pipe in installed between the house and the street? I know when my house was originally built it had Orangeburg pipe between the house and the street. I have been there 3 years and I have seen neighbors replacing their sewer laterals. Our city is starting a program to help replace old sewers. I sure would like to know if previous owners updated our house. I checked for permits and there were none, but the incoming water line was changed to copper years ago and I saw no permit for that. I really don’t want to dig a deep hole to see the pipe.

yes they can. on one of my properties(i'm a maintenance area supevisor for a apartment co.) they located a clean-out that was broken below grade and getting roots growing into it. this was going on for three years before i came on board, it was flooding the lower apts. with raw sewage at a cost of thousands of $ to just rooter the roots. found the broken pipe, extended it, no more problems(knock on wood) since. use the cam
